    Default another earplugs thread

Hi,have already searched through boa, just wanted an update on what people recommended for earplugs as a lot of posts are from a couple of years ago - for DJing most weekends, often on squatparty rigs what do people recommend using?
I Googled and came up with these two as the main options
AudioRelief - Managing Tinnitus, Custom Ear Plugs and Filters
and the ones on this list
Etymotic ER Musicians Earplugs™ | Sensorcom
    any others you recommend?
I DJ most weekends, often on squatparty rigs, would the 25 be better than the 15 in that case or does that cut out too much of the sound?
    Cheers for any advice ;)

I had -9db filters. They were perfect. Took the edge of things, cut out harsh high and mid levels but still let you hear things and get a kick out of the "loudness" of it.

the 15 and 25 just made things too quiet IMO, and even though the filters were flat response you still felt the bass being out of proportion with the loudness of the other freqs.

Flat response earplugs are there to tame the sound, not block it out. Its personal and depends on what your hearing is like, but I wouldn't go for 25.

Elacin are another good brand, pricey though.

Well, I work in mastering so I use 25`s or complete cuts most of the time.
You do generally get a good compromise with 9db cuts though, depending on the brand I suppose, but it cuts the main nastyness (it`s those highs you need to look out for, especially on badly set up rigs, which most squat systems are).

those Elacin seem to get good reviews?

I think I am leaning towards the 15db though, a lot of the sites I have checked seem to recommend 15db for DJing..and I guess they are basing that on legal limits rather than squatparty (un)limits(!)

Yeah man, go for 15`s, keep your ears safe, and on squat systems, in my experience, you have to have the headphones at ear shredding levels and the "booth" monitors are inevitably horrible cheapy grot boxes throwing out hideous amounts of nasty top end.
