Here at 16 Steps, we not only specialise in tutoring new and upcoming producers, we also offer their exciting new music to the World through our label imprint. Our third offering comes from UK-born Texan resident Will Konitzer, with his debut Tech House EP 'Evensong'. This package come complete with a beautifully crafted melodic remix from UK/Australian duo Agent Togaand a collaboration between Konitzer and 16 Steps course tutor Alex Parsons. We hope you enjoy it!

    About The Release:

Konitzer's original mix is a unique slice of Tech House, with luscious deep pads and a wonderfully progressive arrangement. As the track builds, fluttering high frequency percussion darts around a strong auto-filtered lead. This is soon replaced by beautiful arpeggiated synths on approach to the break. Kontizer then uses intense harmony creating a dense atmosphere before pulling out to just the kick and bass for the drop. A very effective number.

Agent Toga have created one of their favourite remixes here (reminiscent of their Solaris Heights remix for Brique Rouge), drawing melodies from of the original and using a moving bass and hammond stabs to create a deep funky groove. In the break, a new chordal riff is introduced, lead the track in an entirely new direction after the atmospheric breakdown. Tried and tested in some of the World's largest clubs, this one is a must for any record box as we approach the winter months.

Wind Through Wires is a collaboration between Konitzer and 16 Steps course tutor Alex Parsons. In this tougher rolling tech house number offering, key stabs compliment a heavy rolling baseline and atmospheric pad melodies. A pitch-shifted 70s disco tom occupies the breakdown, twisting and weaving its way through the main melody, before falling in on itself on the powerful drop. Not one for the early sets, this one will cause a stir in the clubs this season.

    About Will:

Will’s passion is music and he’s been involved in it someway or other since an early age. He started his musical training at the world famous St. George’s Chapel as a chorister to the Queen. Will subsequently followed this with a music scholarship to Winchester College and a Tonmeister degree in Sound Recording.

In 2006, Will erupted onto the London DJ scene, featuring alongside many of London's upcoming stars including Jim Rivers, Anil Chawla and Mark Sun at London's most renowned venues. His own deep, progressive Tech House promotion “Coordinated” a deep also became highly popular in the city.

Will currently draws inspiration from names such as Hernan Cattaneo, Satoshi Tomiie, Nikola Gala, Cephalonya and Sebastian Leger creating a varied soundscape of music – expect chunky basslines, rolling beats and atmospheric melodies.

Will visited 16 Steps in 2009 in order to develop his knowledge of sound technology, improve his workflow and gain more of an understanding of Tech House production techniques. We are so happy to be releasing his new and exciting debut EP.
