Exclamation [SIN009] - Blind Summit - Motion Departure EP (+Voidloss RMX)

The 9th talisman of Singularity Recordings has been uncovered, and again we have something special for you.
For this release we introduce the music of the truly wonderful Blind Summit.
This artist came to our attention via associates who suggested the musicality of his works would be interesting to us.
    Well, that was an understatement.

You rarely find such accomplished musicality in techno and so we felt the need to present this music as soon as possible.
The music provided by Blind Summit is something different for techno. The title track of the EP lifts you up straight away,
envelopes you in a huge warm space filled with glistening melody, sweeping strings, phasing, hypnotic bass, and tight
detroit rhythms. The track is uplifting, filled with love and joy, and yet without any cheesy-ness or kitsch. Simply a
beautiful piece of music that deserves your time.

The Seventh Opinion is again, epic in scale. Filmic, spaceous, positive, the music of a hopeful ending to an apocalyptic
movie.Simple clean beats provide the backing pulse to an evolving, growing, melodic cascade that would fit into the
sets of a number of genres.
For us this is what techno is about, forward thinking, defying stereotype, innovative, unique and highly creative.

Ciclosporin takes the established and epic Blind Summit sound into darker regions for this EP. Creeping paranoia,
forboding entities, a more machine-like beat, like Mills but more complex and orchestrated. Lights out, strobes on,
grit your teeth and weather the storm!
The 2 remixes provided by Voidloss gently re-interpret the material without straying too far from the overall vibe.
The paradise beats mix of Motion Departure places trademark Voidloss broken beat percussion underneath the blind
summit strings. Adding complex but subtle percussion shifts, a more simplified string arrangement, and some epic
builds that flow in and out mirroring the ocean-like drive of the original.

The Hold me as I fade mix of The Seventh Opinion goes off in a different direction. Taking the vibe of the original into
dubstep crossover turf. The melody is stripped and taken into half time, a massive slab of sub is dropped underneath
whip cracking beats, and drifting, etheric pads and melodies are brought in to enhance the original and take it into a
more dream-like, tender and melancholy space.
Overall a fantastic beginning to 2011 in our opinion, setting the tone for the rest of the year, and, we hope, the
start of an interesting relationship with this artist for Singularity.

Blind Summit is a great guy doing his own stuff. He's my jazz brother hehe. Superb EP. I've been on his case to get him to get some material released. Glad to see more of his stuff getting out
