There is loads of ways to gate using fruity. The easyiest way is to stick a mute plugin on the channel you want to gate, and automate it on and off. Sidechaining can be done aswell -

Stick a fruity peak controller on the kick, then put a fruity balance on the channel you want to sidechain. Then right click on the volume knob of the fruity balance, then select "link to controller", then select "Internal controller", then select "Peak" from the drop down list. Now click the "remove conflicts" box. Now go to the peak controller. Turn the mute off, and then mess with the peak "base" and the peak "volume". Voila ;)
